Judgement Night...For the Bitz Box?

I just read some bullshit article about the 25 Greatest Soundtracks of all time. Hmmmm. Although I agree with some of the choices, this Rolling Stone hackjob neglected to mention one hardhitting album that pummels most of their limpdick selections.

That's right, ladies and gerbils. Judgement Night.

I'm hard pressed to find a soundtrack with this much oomph. Example? Yes. Crank it. Better.

Yeah.

One more...

Another classic.

Goddam, rap and heavy metal go together like cock and cunt, man. Reminds me of some ultra classics out there.

God this seems like eons ago.

And so on and so forth...Let's get to the bread and butter...The rice and soy sauce for you Chinese...Of the post.

Lately I've been contemplating the gigantor amounts of bits that I have piled up. It's bordering on insanity. My bits have bits. I have enough marine bits to fuel me for another ten years...And the chaos stuff, oh the chaos stuff! For Buddha's sake there's some wacky shit in there...And I can't bring myself to get rid of all of it. Throwing it out, selling it or trading it would be akin to lopping off my left nut with a chainsword. The bits have become another appendage, something...Symbiotic with my own soul...A Venom to my Eddie Brock...A Carnage to my Cletus Kasady...And then...And then there are the Tyranid bits...

Let's dive headfirst into just one bits box containing my Tyranid bits. Be warned, this is not for the faint of heart...
A simple harpy/crone model kit on the outside. Inside lies the pieces from the demented hobby of a middle aged gentlemen who is intent on building and painting a plastic army, representing a hive-mind dominated insect species from beyond the edges of the galaxy, with which to use on a 6x4 foot table top in faux battle against his friends for bragging rights and fun.

Let's take a little peek inside to find a glimpse of what the term "plastic crack" is all about...

Oh yes...A bit like that first scene where we go down into Hannibal Lector's cell right?

 Let's dig a little...

Here's an old tervigon conversion from before the model existed.

Ah! Here's a fourth edition dakkafex head. This could come in handy down the road. Not sure if you all know this, but the dakkafex is back in business.

Jackpot!

 Here's a curious bag.

What could it be?
Ah, an insane jumble of Tyranid arms...

This odd collection represents many editions of pulling arms off and reglueing, of tactics tried and lost to rules changes and different army builds. For instance, in fifth edition Tyranids, double scything talons gave the benefit of rerolling ones. Very nice, but now they don't do shit. The venom cannons though...I'm not so sure why I have so many of those worthless things painted...Sometimes the sands of time can't be sifted so easily...

Some choice bits are beginning to float to the surface. Some tervigon style crushing claws for instance...

Oooooh, I see some fleshborer hives there...And maybe I'll get started on painting those bonesabres in case I want to build a proper Swarmlord...Because that makes total sense...

And here's a dude with potential...

A little glue, a base, some paint and a prayer and we have the birth of a dakkafex.

Here are some freshly washed crushing claws.

And some bone sabres...

Here's a dude that needs help.

I think I'm going to set him up like so. Crushing claws to peel apart tanks and a little twin-linked action for a quick spritz before diving in. I like the dual threat.

Here's the other dude-man with his fleshborer hives. Looks pretty swell, eh? I love the look of these on the dakkafex as opposed to the double twin-linked MC devourers. There's some really cool conversions and iterations of this beast out there on the interwebs, but this guy looks like he could still use those big ass arms to crush someone with that base S9. Those puny t-rex arms don't do it for me.

For instance, this is a well painted classic dakkafex. It looks cool but to my mind doesn't spell out "Still dangerous in close combat."

Here's a nice variation where the 'fex sits up a bit higher and has more guns. Still, to me, it doesn't scream S9.

This style is becoming more popular for gamers with lots of devourers and crushing claws kicking around. Since fleshborer hives are becoming increasingly rare, this is a nice alternative.

Sweet, unique conversion here.

Classic Michigan dog.

So, the verdict is...Keep the bits...You'll never know when you'll need 'em. A big part of the hobby, for me, is building new guys and sometimes, with enough bits, you can do that without having to shell out a bunch of money.

That's all for now. Happy new year.
