Skytyrants in Flight...Afternoon Delight

Wooooooo! Greetings and salutations. I'm on a bit of a tyranid kick and thought it was high time to show off some newly painted shit and maybe talk about one of the best units in the game.

But first, let's delve into some comedy.

Making dirty Reuben love...

This dude's been sitting on the shelf for too long. I finally found the motivation to paint this guy and completely neglect anything else in my life for a day or two...

What a fantastic model. I went out and bought this the day it flew onto the shelves. I was a tad disappointed to learn the kit came with no devourers. Hmmm. Goddam GW why can't you just go all the way? I mean, you finally produce a gorgeous tyrant kit with wings and you screw up by not including the best weapon option. Whatever...The fleshborer hive from the tervigon/tyrannofex kit works just as well and is getting easier to find online, unlike, let's say the special haruspex crushing claws. My god. Gawd? Chawed? Choad? What the hell is everyone doing with those damn claws anyway?

The wings were the most time consuming, but came out great.

Lots o' dakka comin' atcha...

But you know I had to gat-cha...

12 S6 twin-linked dinks at BS4 motherfuckers and I can also pick up a flamer template for a mere 10 points to smoke out douchebags in cover. This guy is the sweet auto-include in every Tyranid army. Did I mention I like the model too?

Here's my original flyrant. Those are fantasy wings.

Here's another tyrant. I think I got this one from Jared. I traded him an old display board for this guy. He's still using the board, I don't use this tyrant for Jack Shit. Back in the day, however, this guy used to be accompanied by three tyrant guard and a Tyranid prime. I used to give him the 2+ save, the six inch aura of preffered enemy and a couple tervigons with lots of poisoned gaunts. This was back when the tervigon could buff gaunts and the poison reroll hadn't been nerfed yet. It was a potent combo.

There's another tyrant who used to be the Swarmlord in the back there. The extra bits from the kit will be applied to him when the time comes.

Ah, here he is. Hey buddy! Wanna be a super points sink that footslogs across the board? Well, if I paint it up the Swarmlord will still make a cool model and a fabulous paperweight, these metal tyrants are heavy.

The three paperweights. Dusty Bottoms, Lucky Day and Ned Nederlander.

Here's an old ass tyrant that I converted/kitbashed/sculpted into a harpy. I always liked the look of this guy as a harpy. Even more so than the new model.

Here's a shot of the balrog wings in action.

Here's another harpy sporting the ol' twin-linked heavy venom cannon package. He comes out for Apoc games and not much else.

While we're on the wing kick, I thought I'd show my hive crone WIP.

I've got this great thing down with my 'nid paint scheme. I prime the whole model white, then wash the shit out of it with seraphim sepia. I hit the carapace and armor with black and the gooey parts with my special exposed flesh trick. Voila. Table top ready with the option to go back and highlight the skin and draw designs on the carapace when I have the time. It can all be as detailed as I want it to be.

Here's the gang in action.

And once again the belle of the ball.

Coming to a table near you. Bring plenty of lube.

P.S. Did you forget about how awesome Rage Against the Machine is? I didn't. Play this loud or play with yourself instead.
